Machine Shop meeting with faculty
Feb 16, 2018
We set an appointment with Xinnan Peng, who is a engineering machine shop faculty. All group members met at 10:00 AM today at engineering machine shop (111 Jarvis Hall) and discussed with Xinnan about the manufacturing techniques for the prototype of the Automatic Aquarium Water Changer. Specifically, we mainly discussed about the pump type that we could use in this project, as well as how we could mount the product on the back of the fish tank, and how we could mount the laser and photo sensor support on the side of the tank. After discussed with the machine shop faculty, we have some brand new idea on how to mount the product as well as all kinds of sensors such as using the suction cup and integrating all kinds of sensors with the main body of the product, so that the user doesn’t have to take effort to mount the sensors. We also decided not to use the full size of the tank as we manufacturing the prototype, and use a smaller sized tank instead since the tempered-glass fish tank is too heavy to carry, a smaller sized fish tank can easily carry around.
